Yet we had faith, and believed that if we just trusted in God, everything would work out.
For the next 7 years, things only got harder, and it seemed like heaven had gone silent.

Eventually, we discovered some principles that made all the difference.
It changed how we thought, it changed how we prayed, and it even started changing our circumstances.
D&C 130:20-21 says:
"There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."
Well, apparently, all those years we had been violating some laws that we didn't even know existed, and which we certainly didn't understand.
But once we learned about the laws governing prosperity and began applying the principles to our dire situation, our income tripled, and we were able to finally start paying down our debt.
That was in 2000, and I've been talking about it ever since.
